The Council of Computer Professionals (Registration Council of Nigeria), has approved the putting up of the Mandatory Continuous Professional Development Programme (MCPD) for registered members of the profession. The programme was conceived as a means of re-training and updating members’ skills and knowledge on the latest developments in the industry. There is a need for members to be abreast of recent developments in the industry and MCPD is intended to serve this purpose. The programme is meant for all grades of members and credits will be given for attendance which will be one of the conditions for the annual renewal of practicing license and upgrading of registered members from one level to another.

Each programme will be a two or three-day intensive training programme, which would hold in a particular area with facilitators coming from both the academic and industry. The MCPD is a common feature of all professional bodies on the re-training of their members. Professional bodies like ICAN, CIBN etc all have various versions of the Mandatory Computer Professional Development (MCPD).

Council has approved the schedule of course activities as well as the time frame for them.  In addition, it has also approved that the participation fee for registered members of the profession be subsidized.
