Council Received the Best IT Regulator of the Year Award

CPN recieves AwardThe effort of the Computer Professional (Registration Council of Nigeria) at promoting professionalism in the Information Technology industry through proper regulation and supervision of the industry received a boost recently when a special recognition award was given to the Council by the Cyber Nigeria forum, organizers of the Africa Information Society Merit Award.


 CPN was awarded the Best IT regulator of the year at the Cyber Nigeria Forum/Africa Information Society Award (AISMA 2012) which held on Saturday, July 28th at Sheraton Hotels & Towers, Ikeja Lagos.


AISMA, a biennial pan Africa Award, was initiated to recognize and celebrate organisations that have impacted on Nigeria‘s burgeoning ICT sector. The award seeks to celebrate innovations that are transforming Africa landscape from business to finance and organisations that are committed to the growth and development of ICT in Nigeria.


CPN was specially recognized for all its effort at regulating the standard of IT education and practice in Nigeria. The award was presented to CPN by the Director-General of the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP). Dr Umar Buba Bindir. The Registrar of CPN, Mr. Sikiru Shehu received the Award on behalf of the Council of CPN.


The well attended ceremony had the Honorable Minister of Communication Technology, Ms. Mobola Johnson, Mr. Emmanuel Ekwuem, Chief Executive Officer of Teledom Group and former President of Association of Licensed Telecom Operators in Nigeria (ALTON) and Mr. Kayode Shobajo of HIIT training group in attendance. Additionally, Mr. Amoo Taofeek and Mr. Idowu Olusile, Heads of Media and Corporate Communication and Education Department of CPN  were also in attendance to support the CPN Registrar.
